“Tree of good and bad” means what?
by venus inif “tree of good and bad” were literal, it would mean adam and eve would know what is “good and bad” only after eating of that tree.
however, even before eating of it, they would think “it is good for us to eat of this tree” which means they are already endowed knowledge of “good and bad.” that means “tree of good and bad” is symbolic of something.. since religious organizations interpret this differently, each reader has to adopt his own conclusion.
for me it looks like this: one thinks of good and bad in relation to himself—if something is beneficial for him he would say it is good for him, and bad for him if it is not beneficial.

Anybody's guess. What did the original writer of that passage mean? We would need to know what were the persons beliefs about the main character Deity that passes judgement. To conclude that this is an actual true story would make ones guess way off the mark. It's a told story put down in writing of the times and not an eye witness account.
If we view as mythology we can make a better guess. If we view it from a psychological way and see mythology as bubbling up from the unconscious and full of psychological projections then I think we are closer still to perhaps making a very good guess.
I can make several different guess depending on how I approach it. I see it as psychological projections in myth form that man's knowledge of good and bad makes death come into existence because as one kind of knowledge leads knowledge of the later. But I'm sure other can go even deeper on the subject.
As for the Devil being behind a talking snake leading man into sin and death, I see it as a Christian fairy tale that came many centuries after original writing and totally absent from original writers view point.
Remember this was written thousands of years ago and their was no science their understanding of the world was much more different then us modern humans. Gods were everywhere those days they explained the mysteries in human understanding they were imaginary and they were every where.

Well think about it,, the Governing Body use guilt tripping as a powerful tool to keep the rank & file JW serving them, and they are not shy about it. Remember the wife of Lot, and other bible stories are used often as warnings about what will happen to you if you don't do as we say.
Add to this that they harp on scriptures that make us sinners and worthy of death unless we turn around and obey them, Jehovah their corporation sock puppet is going kill every defector who doesn't follow corporation values and guide lines.
Yes almost totally worthless as slaves for the Watchtower Corporation with no complaining allowed(or face a judicial meeting), so just suck it up and forget about it. It puts people under great stresses and makes them have harmful emotions towards themselves.
You know that kind of servile attitude towards this corporation where they can direct you to shun your own family to please them has got to very harmful towards ones psychological health and well being. All your creativity gets crammed into your shadow(psychologically speaking) and you loose touch with your total self because you don't know the real you because of all this denial and guilt tripping.
I takes time to get rid of those feeling so keep up the good work toward putting a new personality by doing research that exposes all their bull shit and maybe even seeing a very good psychologist if you can afford it.

they're barely noticeable and when i continued there was apparently someone on the other side of the street too.
the only problem, the location is a very busy intersection which has virtually no foot traffic and they're hard to see to begin with, as you can see from my vantage point i couldn't even read the cart and three people next to them on this side and two of them on the other side.. .

All the carts I see in my place of residence are not stood behind and no JW is in sight. Seems like the days of giving a bold witness are permanent history in Watchtower land no doubt due to the scandals of pedophilia and huge financial losses from being sued in court over it make standing far away from the cart to avoid public recognition more desireable.
